Perfect Sunday Morning
We're alive! That's the first best thing.
And I have two sleeping boys, a cup of tea, a great book and my favourite beach in front of me. I can hear the waves.
Sigh.

Jett Teaching His Gran Some Aikido Tricks
We had a lovely day today.
I went for my 5 k jog, we planned the week, we ate at our parent's house and picked almonds.
Perfect laate summer weather. I even jumped in for a quick swim.

Blondes in Spain
My beautiful Spanish/Catalan sisters,
You are beautiful as you are!
I love your dark hair! I love it's wildness and healthy glow. I love it's thickness and it suits your fair skin beautifully.
Your grandmothers and mothers were influenced by Hollywood glamour and the images of Monroe, Grace Kelly and the Swedish sirens of 80's TV. But you don't have to believe that nonsense!
Be willing to embrace your natural brilliant radiance! Give it a chance! Do you want to pass on your 'you are not good enough' feeling to your daughters? Someone must break the chain and you are strong enough.

Xixon
We're in Gijon and the most remarkable thing we have seen is the flocking of older people to the water to wade.
Their feet and ankles are in excellent condition. There are older people marching through the water with pure health and well being in their mind. It's not the most elegant of towns but we were most impressed with the walkers, joggers, cyclists and waders of all ages. Well done Gigon!

11th of September
Hello,
Today we're going home.
Today is Catalonia's Day. There is going to be a big demonstration for independence today. Keep your eyes on the news. Let's hope it goes peacefully.

The Lakes of Covaadonga
We're in a spectacular area. Gorgeous lakes, beautiful scenery and ancient churches. We love Asturias!

Oviedo
The boys posing by our hire car.
We're in town for the night.
I have only walking clothes and everyone is dressed up! Oh well..
Great weather.
This town has an old fountain from the 9th century.
Last Part of the Camino
So today Albert and Jett took a bus to Oviedo to pick up our hire car for the last few days of our holiday.
I slothed about in the hotel, took a bath, ate a leisurely breakfast and packed my backpack.
Now i am walking the last part of this years camino on my own. I feel quite brave. Of course i just have to follow the yellow arrows. And Jett and Albert will be back in an hour.
It's a great way to see parts of Spain and we totally recommend it for everyone.

Sidra/Cidar
So we're in Asturias, Spain. Their main drink here is cidar.
It's a natural cidar that rarely costs more than 2 € a litre. They serve it in big glasses.
Tonight a woman goes from table to table pouring a few centimeters into the glass and handing it directly to you to drink. Many pour the dregs of the glass onto the floor.
The bottle is held high and the glass low, and the cidar somehow gets into the glass.
Some places have a little pump so you can pour the cidar when you want to. It funny.
Villaviciosa
Today we took the bus for one hour to the town of Villaviciosa.
Jett is quite recovered from his tummy problems but we thought we'd let him rest.
It seems there is a party here tonight and many of the hotels are fully booked.
This town is also a centre for cidar.
We're still blessed with excellent weather.

Ribadesella
We've already stopped for the day.
We walked about 10 km, but Jett was feeling bad from an upset stomach. We've stopped in a sweet hotel in Ribadesella, a seaside town. Its a bit overpriced but quite charming. Albert has decided its his day to try the cider Asturias is so famous for.
Its true there are apple trees everywhere.

Llanes!
We love it here.
Its a harbour town in Asturias with a gorgeous setting, a medieval area and gorgeous houses. We're staying in a pension called Casa del Rio and the picture above is the view from the hall. We love it! But time to walk on.
Thanks Llanes! Perhaps we'll meet again.

From Unquera to Llanes
Today there is quite a bit of the path along the road.
We've stopped after 10 kilometers and only have another 10 to go.
All well.
Our aches and pains include sore ham strings, sore collar bones from the straps of the bags, a little rash in sensitive places from rubbing and that's about all.
Weather is getting warmer and we've had no rain.

From Comillas to Unquera
We're in the last village of Cantabria. It was a long stage today. 30 k. We all feel it.
I have a dated John Wayne film on. He's speaking Spanish and saving baby elephants.
Its been charming country side and we're all happy. Soon time for dinner and an early night.

Hhhhmmmmm
Well, I think if this happened in Australia there would be a few people to intervene.
It happens quite a lot here.
The Caprice of Gaudi!? 5€
We came to see a Gaudi building and they charge 5€ just to see the outside! There is a brick wall all around it and they also added a green plastic wall to stop anyone seeing anything from the outside!
El Capricho de Gaudi!
Albert and Jett improvised for a couple of pictures... and suddenly Jett realised he was afraid of heights. :)
Day 2 on the Northern Way
Of course, we're getting used to living out of our back packs, washing and drying our clothes and eating what ever is provided by our good land lords. :) jett's going well.
We've got a 21 kilometer stage today. Lovely country.

We Start Our Walk in Santander
We left our little flat at 11.30.
The train was on time and no delays at the airport.
We landed in Santander 15 minutes ago and were picked up by Albert's friend.
So far the country is gorgeous. Gentle hills, green and 5 degrees cooler than Granollers.
We sleep in an alburgue tonight and start the first part of our walk tomorrow. Wish us luck!
