Granollers Library

You have to pay extra money if you want to borrow a book that is from another library in the area. I’ve never seen that before, but Albert says, nothing is for free here. Catalans are Catalans after all.

The English selection is very poor. When I lived in Hamar, Norway, there were three book cases full of English Books. I thought at the time that it wasn’t many, but here, in such a large mini city, the English books only fill one and half book shelves.

And when they say Spanish people can’t speak English, it seems true so far.

PS - I've since discovered another newer library in the area and I will take look at their selection.

I;m currently readign my way through the shelf on english books in the the Can Pedrals library - wonder if we've read the same ones first! I'm not yet onto Dickens! Also started on the adolescent catala ones for practice.K x

Wow, well done!!
I don't have enough time to read a lot of books like I used to. (Still haven't read my last St Jordi book - shame!!)
I have to study my Catalan harder!

i m from Barcelona and i m leaving right now in Australia and... your comment makes me smile. Here it s the same with the books ( at least in Brisbane) When you borrow a book from another library you must pay 80 cents!

Hi Muntsa,

Really?!

It has never happened to me before. Of course, the last country I lived in before Spain was Norway. Its been 16 years since I lived in Australia. I guess the times are a changin'!

I am sure I ordered a book from another library and paid nothing - it was Laura and the City of the Saints - in Catalan - was good but too advanced for me! Sometimes I wonder about donating some English books to the library - I have quite a few that I won't read again. I can't stop reading - it's what keeps me sane here. (And you!) Kx
