Trash or Treasure?

Since I've lived here, I've seen some African men going through the bins and taking out scrap metal, old electrical equipment and other interesting bits and pieces. Other people seem to ignore them. There isn't a big second hand mentality here. I think the economical climate maybe changing people's attitude. In Australia there is a big push to sell our old things. One person's trash is another's treasure.

collecting copper is common here. if no one else collects it, it's easy free money. Cash sitting there, on the side walk. You'll see perfectly working computer monitors and tvs on the nature strip with the power leads severed for the copper!!!

Just yesterday I picked up a cane lounge. Nice

Oh, I didn't know about the copper. You see the men with the supermarket trolleys full of stuff every day. I'll keep a look out for the copper.

Jett and I were walking down the street just two weeks ago when a maid threw out a huge box of playmo (toys he collects) - we were VERY happy.
